Exhibitor Eligibility

The GBCBS is accountable to its funders in government who have stipulated that all businesses for sale are from non-metropolitan BC and have either been vetted or certified. Vetting ensures the GBCBS is a more effective showcase for sellers who are serious about finding a buyer. Buyers will arrive with the expectation that sellers can answer their questions and provide a realistic, fair market valuation. The GBCBS, its partners and supporters are working hard to promote the event to local, regional, and international markets and must be assured that the inventory of available businesses are vetted to ensure they are ready for sale.

Communities must be located within non-metropolitan BC.

Business Owners

Only businesses located in non-metropolitan BC are eligible.

What is Vetting?

Vetting is a short process that involves a review of your financial information and discussion with a trusted, experienced Business Advisor to ensure your business is priced at a fair market value and that you are prepared and supported for sale and negotiation with buyers.

Does my Business Need to be Vetted?

If you are a business owner who is not being represented by a realtor or broker your business must be vetted before it is eligible for exhibition at the GBCBS. If your business is represented by a broker or realtor vetting is unnecessary.

How Do I Get My Business Vetted?

Requests for vetting can be directed to Venture Connect. The fee for this service is $250. You will be asked to answer a short series of basic questions (ex. contact info) and asked to provide your last 3 years' worth of financial records. Within 3-5 business days a vetting report will be provided to you and you will be put in touch with an experienced Venture Connect Business Advisor for one on one support.

Brokers & Realtors

Only businesses located in non-metropolitan BC are eligible.

How Do I Get My Business Inventory Certified?

In order to participate in the GBCBS all businesses for sale must be listed on the VentureConnect.ca website first.

After you have created your user account, are logged in, and have selected "add new listing" you will be asked to indicate "yes" to a statement that you certify your listings’ valuation is reasonable and the seller is prepared to sell.  There is no fee.
